The other surviving 4DD driving cab (13004) of unit 4002 at the Northampton Ironstone Trust is to join our driving cab (13003) at Sellindge. Regrettably all the trailer cars from the two original 4DD units and the two driving cabs from unit 4001 have been scrapped.

This is the announcement of this news on 7 June 2021

“It gives me great pleasure to announce the Northampton Ironstone Trust Railway based 4DD is coming to Sellindge.

Following the passing of Nick Robinson, his son’s and the NIRT have gifted the 4DD to the Sellindge based 4DD group.

On behalf of the joint owners and myself of the Sellindge DD group

I would like to thank Nick Robinson’s son’s and the NIRT for giving us the opportunity to reunite these two historical pieces of railway history.

More to follow shortly.”

Mark Hickmott, joint owner.

On behalf of the Sellindge based 4DD group.

How terribly sad that most of the coaches are gone. Are 4002’s Motor coaches intact? I realise that they are, alas, in poor condition. With good wishes.
