Recent Progress

On the 19/01/2019. It was one of our biggest working weekends with the following members down to help; Chris Hurst, Mark Hickmott, Kerry Hickmott, Alyson Parris, Bernard Tilley, Richard Midwinter, Stephen Chambers, Clare Chambers and family were on site today. The main job was to get the container water tight, this involved replacing the roof with a new timber roof covered in preservative. Also rubbish clearance was carried out too.

Stephen Chambers and Richard Midwinter on the roof. Bernard Tilly and Kerry Hickmott on the ground.

Whilst clearing the rubbish. Two discoveries where made. The first being the “Mind the Gap” foot plates. Two have since been cleaned revealing a granite style material put on as anti slip. This was done by TSR vapour blasting and finishing services.

Mind the Gap Footplate. The Middle one shows how they arrived.

The second discovery was a couple of the original light bulbs. Richard Midwinter took one home and they still work after over 50 years in storage. These where unique to the DD (As far as we are aware)

One light fully working. These run on 70 volts.
